Orla Mills, a lawyer in Dublin, comes to Sainte-Marie to scatter the ashes of her husband, Jonty, who died in suspicious circumstances, into the sea. She is accompanied by her 18-year-old daughter, Astrid, her best friend, Eve Wilding, and her husband, Callum. That same evening, as they prepare to watch the deceased’s favorite movie together to honor his memory, Eve goes out on the terrace and calls the police to report a murder. Arrived on the spot with his team, Inspector Parker discovers Eve in the swimming pool between life and death.
