09:48: On the central square of Vladivostok, final preparations are underway for the Victory Parade. In 15 minutes, the celebration of the 77th anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War will begin. Parade calculations have already been built, veterans are taking the honorary platform at the monument to the Fighters for the Power of the Soviets. Songs of the war years are blaring from the speakers, and thousands of people are trying to take the best seats, from where they can see both the parade and the Immortal Regiment’s first march in two years.
09:51: Opposite the government building of Primorsky Krai is the beginning of a mechanized military column. In front of her is a white Volga, everything is ready for the start of the ceremony. Two restored tanks from the times of the Great Patriotic War can be observed behind the machine at once: T-34-76 and T-34-85. It is known that the first model was mass-produced since 1940. It had outstanding characteristics in terms of cross-country ability, maneuverability, ease of assembly and reliability. In Vladivostok, the restored tank belongs to the museum in Sadgorod, which brought it back to life. Armored vehicles were named following veteran tanker Yefim Goldberg, who passed away two years ago.
The T-34-85 is a development of its predecessor and has been in production since 1944. Outwardly, it differs from the previous model by a longer and wider tank gun. An increase in caliber to 85 mm was required following the Battle of Kursk, when it turned out that the Germans were using stronger anti-ballistic armor on their tanks. As a result, the T-34-85 received new firepower and became the most massive tank of the entire Second World War.
09:53: The hosts begin the parade ceremony by listing the main and most famous facts and battles. A banner group comes out to the sounds of the “Holy War”.
09:57: The solemn atmosphere is overshadowed by the organization of the parade – food and water are taken away before entering the square, although it is already quite hot, and it takes a long time until the end of the event. Spectators are passed through metal detectors, which is why queues accumulate. The veterans were once more not provided with a canopy from the sun on the podium.
09:58: The presenters announced that they were carrying the national flag and the banner of Victory in front of the stands – a symbol of the triumph of the Soviet people over Nazi Germany. This is a copy of the assault flag of the 150th Order of Kutuzov II degree of the Idritsa Rifle Division, armed above the Reichstag building.
10:02: Governor of Primorye Oleg Kozhemyako comes to the microphone. He congratulates everyone on Victory Day. He remembers the colossal losses and hardships. He says that our multinational people broke the back of the Third Reich.
“And today, in Europe itself, some people ask Russia questions: “Why do you pay so much attention to Victory Day? So many years have passed, why are you celebrating so widely? In these questions lies the desire to devalue the feat of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers who defeated Nazism in 1945. In the West, they want to forget and that we forget what losses our country has suffered for the right to exist. But we remember and will remember more than 20 million victims, because it affected literally every one of our families,” recalls the governor.
The memory of them will live forever, Oleg Nikolaevich continues. This is the hysterical truth, and we will not allow anyone to distort it. Today, our country is once more forced to fight the threats of the West. Now our sailors and soldiers are once more defending the country from Nazism in Ukraine. Kozhemyako thanks the soldiers in the parade and says that they are a worthy replacement for the heroes who fell in the war.
10:03: In response to the governor’s congratulations, those present burst into a loud threefold “Hurrah!” The parade has begun.

10:18: Sergei Avakyants rises to the podium to congratulate the parade on Victory Day. He says that the banner over the Reichstag will become an eternal symbol of our right to a peaceful life. He says that the iron will of the unconquered people saved the whole world from fascism. And today our soldiers protect everyone from the neo-Nazis who have raised their heads in Europe.

10:38: Behind the tanks for the first time in Vladivostok – heavy artillery from the Second World War. This is an ISU-122 self-propelled gun.
