AMLO and Díaz-Canel agree on “a new stage” in the Mexico-Cuba relationship

The governments of Mexico and Cuba They agreed to continue strengthening the historical bonds of brotherhood and fraternity between the countries and to consolidate a new stage in the two-way relationship.

The foregoing through two collaboration mechanisms that were signed by the President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Caneland the president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador in a ceremony that took place in the Palace of the Revolution.

The agreement provides for promoting the development of social, economic, educational and cultural actions for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.

This shows the interest of both States in strengthening cooperation to face the great challenges posed by the serious effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and collaborate in the care of health emergencies, epidemics and other pandemics.

Cuba and Mexico sign agreement on Health

Previously, the first Minister of Public Health of Cuba, Ángel Portal Miranda, and the Secretary of Health of Mexico, Jorge Alcocer, signed a coordination agreement to promote training and cooperation between both nations in this matter.

Present at the signing were the wife of the president of Cuba, Lis Cuesta Peraza, and the wife of the president of Mexico, Beatriz Gutierrez Mullerwho were introduced as “first ladies”, respectively.

At the end of the ceremony, the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, clarified that neither of the two countries has the figure of “first lady”, but that they are the wives of the leaders.
