Sadio Mane admitted that he and his team are praying for Manchester City to falter in the English Premier League season 21/22.
Liverpool is currently leading the Premier League standings with 83 points (goal difference from City) following its tie yesterday once morest Tottenham in the 36th round matches (1-1), knowing that City is waiting to face Newcastle on Sunday evening in the same round matches.
During statements reported by the “Liverpool Echo” newspaper, Mane talked regarding the hopes of winning the quartet this season (the Krabau Cup “won by Liverpool”, the FA Cup “reached the final”, the English Premier League, the Champions League “qualified to the final”), and said: ” If we focus on it too much, we will get nervous, we know how good our team is.”
“We know our goal and we have to make sure that we are doing everything we can to achieve what we are striving for,” he added.
The Senegalese player added: “We give our best every day. I think that competing with Man City makes the Premier League special.”
And Mane continued: “Of course, we pray that Manchester City stumble with a draw or loss, and we will win matches because winning the Premier League does not happen every year and we have a chance this year.”
He continued: “This year we were ten points behind and we came back, so what we have to do is win matches and hopefully one of the teams – at least – can get one point from Man City.”
And he added: “I’m a fighter, I want to win and achieve everything, but in the end if it doesn’t work out, it’s part of life that we have to deal with.”
He concluded: “We won the Carabao Cup and we will see what happens in the Premier League. It is one of our biggest goals. We have big matches but anything is possible in football, so I hope it will be a crazy year for me and the team.”
It is worth noting that Liverpool qualified for the FA Cup final and will meet Chelsea on May 14, and will meet Real Madrid in the Champions League final on May 28.
