Do you want to play hundreds of video games from your living room without going through the console box? Microsoft soon has the solution for you with this new project! Indeed, the Redmond firm would be developing a device dedicated to Cloud Gaming allowing access to the Game Pass and this, without buying a machine.

Playing on Xbox without Xbox, is it coming soon?

Rather than acquiring an Xbox console for several hundred euros, Microsoft might soon offer players an alternative of choice. The Redmond firm would thus prepare for next year a new device dedicated to Cloud Gaming and allowing access to the Game Pass from your television. This is reported by the very knowledgeable Jeff Grubb via VentureBeat.

For the moment obviously nothing is official. Nevertheless, this project carried by Microsoft within the framework of Xbox Everywhere seems more than convincing. As we know, the tech giant is no longer content to be a simple manufacturer and has diversified widely around its Game Pass. With the advent of Cloud Gaming, this new device might well be an especially attractive proposition for gamers on a tight budget, or even those who want to expand their media choices without buying new consoles.

A USB key and it’s won

Concretely, what might this new device look like? In the idea, Microsoft would offer a tool similar to Amazon’s Fire Stick that would plug directly into your television. The Fire Stick simply corresponds to a USB key allowing you to transform your television into a smart TV, thus offering access to streaming services from Amazon of course, but also from Netflix, Disney+…

The idea is therefore to connect this device to your TV to then have access to the many Game Pass games available in Cloud Gaming. As we know, Cloud Gaming is not new and technically it is already possible to access Microsoft’s service without consoles, especially on mobiles. This time, the service will be directly accessible on television. The icing on the cake, owners of a Samsung Smart TV should be able to do without this tool: The Redmond firm would work with the South Korean giant to implement an application dedicated to Game Pass directly within these televisions.

Finally, it should be noted that this project concerns only the Game Pass Ultimate. Xbox Cloud Gaming being available through Microsoft’s premium service. Anyway, the offer remains quite attractive and should arrive by next year.
