Who does IMSS protection apply to?

The decision was also announced by the head of the IMSS, Zoé Robledowho gave the details of the agreement.

He explained in a video that social security will be for Guatemalan workers who work in the border area of ​​Mexico.

That Guatemalan border workers who come to work in our country, in the states that make up the southern border, that is, Chiapas, Tabasco and Campeche, and that they enter with the border worker visitor card, which is issued by the Migration’s national institutenow that they have curphis affiliation to the IMSS”, he explained.

This means that the agreement applies only to migrants working in Mexico and not to Guatemalan citizens residing in their country of origin.
