As more visitors flocked to the theme park on the 6th, a discretionary holiday, than the day before, Children’s Day, some theme parks have restricted admission to visitors, such as temporarily suspending ticket sales.

Lotte World, Songpa-gu, Seoul opened at 9:30 a.m. on the same day, and then temporarily suspended ticket sales around 11 a.m. and restricted the entry of visitors. This is because more than 30% more visitors than the previous day exceeded the number of simultaneous occupants set by the company. Lotte World explained that the number of visitors increased compared to the previous day, as there were many schools and companies that were closed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as discretionary holidays.

A Lotte World official said, “Even before Corona 19, we set the number of simultaneous occupants and opened and closed flexibly while watching the number of visitors.

On this day, there were more visitors to Everland in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do than the day before. However, as Everland is an outdoor theme park, admission was not restricted.

Legoland in Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do, which opened on Children’s Day, was also sold out on the 6th following the previous day. As the first global theme park in Korea, Legoland, which attracted attention even before its opening, operates on a ‘100% advance reservation system’, so you cannot enter unless you buy a ticket in advance. Tickets sold per day are around 10,000.

The theme park industry expected this golden holiday, which started from Children’s Day, as an opportunity to recover the theme park industry. According to the tourism information system of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the number of visitors to Everland decreased from 6.6 million in 2019 to 3.7 million last year, and the number of visitors to Lotte World fell by regarding half from 5.79 million to 2.46 million.
