The Asian Games “Hangzhou 2022”, scheduled for next September, was postponed in China until an unspecified date, according to what the Chinese official media announced, at a time when the country is struggling with a high number of “Covid-19” infections.
The reason for the postponement of “Asiad 2022” was not revealed, but the announcement coincides with China’s fight once morest a new wave of infections in “Covid-19”, and some of its cities are witnessing a complete closure.
“The Olympic Council of Asia has announced that the 19th Asian Games, scheduled to be held in Hangzhou, between September 10 and 25, 2022, will be postponed,” CCTV said on the Weibo website, parallel to Twitter in the country.
She added that the new date for the continental event will be announced at a later time.
And the Asian 2022 Organizing Committee revealed earlier this month that all 56 facilities designated for the Asian Games and the Asian Paralympic Games had been completed, and promised to publish a plan to deal with the “Covid-19” outbreak, inspired by the Winter Olympics.
