Mother shot her children in their sleep and they will not survive

The woman was going to be evicted from the house she lived in due to debts. She belonged to a relative of her ex-husband.

A mother in Pennsylvania was accused of shooting her two young children while they slept.

Trinh Nguyen allegedly shot her sons: JT Tini, 13, and Nelson Tini, 9, People reports.

The 38-year-old mother had divorced the children’s father and was regarding to be evicted from her home for being unable to pay her rent.

According to court records, a relative of Nguyen’s ex-husband — who owns the house where the woman lived with her children — was regarding to evict her, the Courier Times and CBS News Philly report.

After shooting the children in the head, the mother pointed the revolver at Gianni Melchiondo, 22, who is her neighbor in the duplex where they lived and is also a relative of her ex-husband, but the gun did not fire. The mother then fled in a minivan.

Police tracked her down, arrested her, and she now faces attempted murder charges, which might escalate to manslaughter. Doctors do not expect the children to survive, and they are hooked up to life support machines so they can donate their organs.

The case remains under investigation.

Nguyen and the children’s father, Edward Tini, had recently divorced. The woman owed her ex-husband’s sister $11,000 in rent and she had received a letter asking her to move out.

Authorities received a call regarding a female suspect with a firearm. Gianni Melchiondo told authorities that Nguyen had given him a box of photos to give to the woman’s ex-husband.

Then he noticed that she was pointing a gun at him. He pulled the trigger twice, but the gun did not fire, says Melchiondo, who managed to take the revolver from him.

Upon entering the home, authorities found the children shot in the head and they were rushed to the hospital. The police found the mother inside a church and she was arrested.
