The Central African government said on Thursday that the country’s financial situation was “very worrying”.
“The future seems very uncertain for public finances and the national economy” and the situation looks “very worrying”, said in a press release sent to Anadolu Agency, the Central African Minister of Finance, Hervé Ndoba.
“In this particularly tense context, the executive is put to the test, and it is vital to continue the budgetary immersion sessions at an adequate pace, with a view to making cuts of 40 to 60% in the budget of the sectoral ministries. “, noted the Central African financier.
According to the Central African government, “the disbursement of budgetary support by the Breton de Woods institutions and other traditional financial partners of the CAR should no longer be the subject of reflection, because these financial and development institutions have no not put this commitment on their agenda”.
However, “there is a glimmer of hope for the financing of certain people-oriented projects”, he then indicated.
Notwithstanding this “alarming situation”, the Central African government noted that the financial authorities performed well, exceeding revenue forecasts for the first quarter of 2022.
“However, these mobilized financial resources do not cover all State expenses and the continuation of investments in basic social infrastructure”, regretted the Minister of Finance.
Minister Hervé Ndoba urged Central Africans to rely on levers likely to increase state revenue, the only means for the moment, allowing the financing of public policies.
“We must count on the effort of everyone to get out of this situation, because the situation of the State’s treasury is very worrying”, he hammered.
In view of this situation, the reduction of the lifestyle of the State is essential.
On April 26, the government temporarily suspended cases of medical evacuations outside the country “for technical and budgetary problems”.
The Central African Republic (CAR) is a chronically fragile country. Endowed with impressive natural and mineral resources, the country has enormous potential, but is trapped in a system of violence.
