Five Univalle Medicine students in the top of the best

Santiago de Cali, May 4, 2022. David Acero Garcés, Camila Azcárate Gómez, Oscar Carabalí García, Juan Camilo Gómez Ospina and Jeyson Montero Castaño, students of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the Universidad del Valle, are part of the top 10 of the best interns in the south of the country who will compete for the Best Intern Award 2022 from the Colombian Association of Faculties of Medicine (ASCOFAME).

“It is a title that until now has not been achieved in the university and that today, five of the ten selected are from the Universidad del Valle is an honor. I am very happy and enthusiastic studying and preparing myself to represent the University in the best way”, said Jeyson Montero, selected among the 10 best in the southern region.

For his part, David Acero, another of the candidates for the award, pointed out that, “what we seek is to raise public education in Colombia through positive results, especially in the last stage of the exam. With this we hope that more incentives can be generated so that young people can access more opportunities in higher education and can develop all their projects”.

The exam that will define the best student of the last year among 60 from six regions will have a test on May 14. “We are waiting for the final version of the exam to be carried out to choose the best nationally from each region and this is important because it is one more example of the leadership of the Universidad del Valle and the Medicine and Surgery program that It already has 72 years of history,” said Carlos Andrés Pineda Cañar, director of the Medicine and Surgery program at the Universidad del Valle.
