Ramanattukara: A mother was arrested in the incident where a baby was found abandoned on the road in Ramanattukara, Kozhikode. Fatima was taken into custody following she abandoned her one – month – old baby boy on the way. Fatima testified that she left her husband because she thought the baby would be liable. Farooq was transferred to the police station for further questioning Fatima.
The baby was found on the sidewalk near the Thottungal Neelithode bridge at 6 am on Thursday. The locals were informed by a guest worker who lived nearby when they heard the baby crying. Farooq police arrived at the scene following they provided the information. The baby was admitted to Farook Taluk Hospital and later shifted to Kozhikode Medical College. The baby is completely healthy, hospital officials said.
The police started the investigation on the conclusion that the guest was the child of a worker. A subsequent search of the area revealed that a woman was seen walking through the area with her baby in the morning. That is how the investigation reached Fatima.
