Cybercrime is a major problem that does not seem to be improving. The last annual report of Cybersecurity Ventures estimates that cybercrime on earth will cost $10.5 trillion a year by 2025. This staggering figure takes into account a multitude of factors, including stolen money, lost productivity, refurbishment and data deletion and hacked systems. The worst is that these everyday items are easy to hack!
In its 2020 Internet Crime Report, the FBI’s Internet Crime Center (IC3) says it receives an average of 2,000 cybercrime complaints per day. And cybercriminals don’t just prey on large organizations. “Victims of cybercrime are individuals, organizations, and businesses – so virtually everyone, from all walks of life,” SSLStore experts worry.
There are ways to protect yourself from cyberattacks, but unfortunately, there is no single magic tool that protects you once morest everything. “Compare IT security to slices of Swiss cheese. They’re full of holes, but layering them on top of each other will cover their respective holes,” Roger Thompson, founder of Thompson Cyber Security Labs, told Reader’s Digest. “In two or three slices of cheese, all the holes are covered.”
