Guide to Good Practices in Health and Well-being for employees published

The 2030 Agenda Working Group (GTA2030) | Salud y Bienestar, the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), the Mexico Global Compact Network and MetLife Mexico presented the Good Practices Guide on Health & Wellnesswhich seeks to contribute to the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations.

The SDGs are a universal call to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that, by 2030, all people enjoy peace and prosperity, so combating the main causes of death and disease that afflict the population is essential to meet these objectives. That is why, with the presentation of this Guide, and in coordination with the CCE and the Global Compact Mexico, the private sector seeks to promote actions that contribute to the health and well-being of its employees, customers, suppliers and the community in general.

The idea is to promote welfare practices that can be adopted and replicated by other actors

For this reason, we responded with great enthusiasm to the invitation of Global Compact Mexico and the Business Coordinating Council to lead this Working Group. We align our operation, as well as the products and services we offer to contribute to the fulfillment of these objectives through our purpose as a company: Always with you, building a safer future”, said Alfredo Esparza, VP of Government Relations and Sustainability at MetLife Mexico and leader of GTA2030 | Health & Wellness.

The publication of the Guide to Good Practices on Health and Well-being is intended to ensure the health and well-being of contributors, as well as promoting welfare practices that can be adopted and replicated by other actors. This Guide focuses its efforts on three main lines of work:

1. Prevent chronic non-communicable diseases

2. Promote physical wellness and mental health practices

3. Contribute to greater access to health services

With these axes established, during 2021 the actions of the Working Groups focused on the second axis to promote physical well-being and mental health practices within the companies, through adequate occupational health and safety plans for all employees. and key audiences. Starting in 2022, in order to have a broader vision and work, the work plan will focus on ddevelop actions in prevention and health projects in communities.

Among the main good practices carried out by companies, the following stand out:

Periodic medical check-ups for employees

Wellness plans focused on prevention and physical and mental well-being

Promote physical activity within companies and healthy eating

· Awareness and sensitization tools

Treatments for the detection, monitoring and prevention of diabetes and hypertension

Agreements with gyms

psychosocial support

· Days off for health issues

· Schemes of work Life Balance

Services with a gender perspective

· Active breaks

This Guide reflects the collective effort of the organizations that make up the GTA2030 | Health and Well-being for the implementation of good practices within the companiesin the health care of collaborators and key audiences, demonstrating that together we can continue advancing for the health and well-being of Mexicans.
