Carlos Sainz of Ferrari F1 “Pressure is not the cause of mistakes”[F1-Gate .com]

Carlos Sainz Jr. disagreed with the view that he was suffering from the pressure to drive a competitive Scuderia Ferrari F1 car.

In the 2022 season, Carlos Sainz Jr. has had a difficult time both catching up with championship leader and teammate Charles Leclerc and not making mistakes.

“I think it’s a matter of managing pressure,” Scuderia Ferrari’s F1 team representative Mattia Binotto told Imola.

“It’s probably the first time in his career that he got a car fast enough to compete for the best position, and he needs to get used to it.”

However, Carlos Sainz Jr. denied the view that recent mistakes have something to do with the fight once morest pressure.

“At Imola, we had a good lap for Q2, so we were experimenting with different lines and different balances,” claims Carlos Sainz Jr.

“When asked if I felt pressure, the answer is no. I was playing in a car and made a mistake.”

In fact, Carlos Sainz says his problems so far in 2022 are more fundamental.

“Unfortunately, the new car doesn’t suit my driving style,” admits Carlos Sainz.

“I’m really struggling to deal with it and I have to make a lot of adaptations. For some reason, it’s not a secret that such mistakes occur.”

“I haven’t reached 100 percent yet, I’m still trying to get used to a new car.”

Even Mattia Binotto admits that pressure-related issues are not a big deal for Carlos Sainz.

“I don’t think there’s a problem there,” said Mattia Binotto.

“He’s improving and driving faster and faster.”
