Ahmed Hamdy, Director of the Department of Slaughterhouses and Meat Inspection in Sohag, said that the liver is not a storehouse of toxins in the body, but through it the body gets rid of toxins, and if the amount of toxins increases, it is stored in fats and the nervous system, indicating that the pregnant woman’s consumption of liver is beneficial. It is very important because it contains vitamins and iron, pointing to the need for a pregnant woman to eat it in moderation because it contains vitamin A, which in the event of an excess causes deformities of the fetus.

Hamdy pointed out that the liver It is not washed like meat, but if necessary, it is rinsed lightly with water and vinegar, enumerating the benefits of liver in:

1- It contains an abundant amount of vitamin B12, which is 3 times the daily human need of this vitamin, so it is recommended to eat it in moderation.

2- It is one of the most foods containing iron, in addition to its high vitamin A, and B-complex vitamins such as vitamin B1 and B9, folic acid, phosphorous, and selenium.

3- It helps in treating anemia because it is rich in iron and vitamin B12, as the liver works to increase the production of hemoglobin in the blood and stimulate the production of red blood cells.

4- Selenium in the liver maintains the health of the thyroid gland, contributes to regulating its secretions and resisting its enlargement, and contributes to stimulating the functions of the adrenal gland, because it contains pantothenic acid, which relieves tension and pressure and a feeling of general fatigue.

5- Eating liver strengthens the immune system in the body and improves the general structure.

6- Eating liver regularly strengthens eyesight, improves vision, and treats myopia problems caused by malnutrition, because it contains beta-carotenes, lycopene, and retinol.

7- The liver strengthens the muscles and helps to rebuild them. It also improves the functions of the nervous system, in addition to improving the health of hair, skin, nails and skin.

8- It works to strengthen the healthy tissues in the body and rebuild the damaged ones, so eating the liver reduces the problems of tongue infections, cracking of the skin and crusting around the nose because it contains riboflavin.

9- Phosphorous in the liver helps to strengthen the bone structure and protect it from fragility. It also helps to improve dental health, prevent tooth loss, and protect the gums from infections.

10- Eating liver contributes to replacing menstrual blood, especially in young girls in their teenage years.

He stressed the need for moderation in eating liver because it contains a high percentage of harmful cholesterol, so it should be taken with caution in patients with pressure, arteriosclerosis, diabetes and heart disease.
