Police celebrate boys after a jaunt with mom’s car

He can’t even read or write, but he knows exactly how mom’s car works. A little boy (4) made a big impression on the police in Utrecht in the Netherlands.

He also has a new nickname. According to the police, the Netherlands has a promising racing driver talent. He was given the name “new Max Verstappen” by the authorities. The 24-year-old became Formula 1 World Champion last year.

However, the boy from the suburb of Overvecht is still a little far from that. First of all, he caused a stir on Saturday when he walked around in his pajamas and barefoot. Concerned passers-by called the police.

He made car noises when talking to his mom on the phone

When the officers arrived at the boy, they received a report of a rear-end collision with two parked cars nearby – the driver of the accident car was therefore missing. Nobody got hurt.

It quickly turned out that the car was registered in the name of the little stray’s mother. And while the boy kept making car noises on the phone with his mom, the police officers got suspicious. Together with the mother and child, they drove to the scene of the accident; There the boy took the keys, got into the car, started it – “and actually pressed the gas pedal”, as the Dutch police write.

According to police, it turned out that the boy had been woken up by his father’s return from work and grabbed his mother’s car keys “to go for a spin”. Officials advised parents to hide their car keys in the future. (jmh/AFP)
