Last Friday, April 29, the last vehicular diversion plan was launched on Elmer Faucett Avenue, in order to conclude the relocation works of drinking water and sewage networks, and which are part of the construction of the Olivar stations. Currently, this distance by public transport takes more than 2 hours and 30 minutes.

The project includes the construction of a Line 4 Branch on Elmer Faucett Avenue, with eight stations, from Óscar R. Benavides Avenue to Néstor Gambetta Avenue, that is, it will reach the Jorge Chávez International Airport.

It is estimated that Line 2 and Line 4 Branch of the Lima and Callao Metro will bring the destinations of more than 660 thousand passengers a day closerbenefiting 2.5 million people who travel through 10 districts: Ate, Santa Anita, El Agustino, San Luis, La Victoria, Cercado, Breña, Bellavista, Carmen de la Legua and El Callao.

As reported, the trains will travel at a maximum speed of 90 km/h and all stations will have lifts for people with reduced mobility and the elderly, escalators and fixed stairs. In addition, the floors will have a structure to facilitate the movement of people with visual problems.

The five stations of the first stage of Line 2 of the Lima and Callao Metro that will enter into test operations are Evitamiento, Óvalo Santa Anita, Colectora Industrial, Hermilio Valdizán and Mercado Santa Anita, in the Santa Anita district.

In a first stage, five trains will come into operation, each with six cars and with the capacity to transport up to 200 people.

On January 11, the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) reported that the first stage of Line 2 of the Lima Metro will begin test operations with the transfer of passengers.

The MTC explained that five stations will be enabled in the first section (Avoidance, Óvalo Santa Anita, Colectora Industrial, Hermilio Valdizán and Mercado Santa Anita).

Once the first stage of the train is in operation, passengers will be able to transfer from the Santa Anita Market to the Evitamiento station in approximately 15 minutesas opposed to the 50 minutes it currently takes to get there by public transport.
