The National Hockey League (NHL) has formalized the odds for lottery-eligible teams heading into the upcoming draft, and the Montreal Canadiens are at the top of the list.
The Seattle Kraken’s loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday confirmed that the new Bettman League team will have the third-best chance to draft first.
Recall that since this season, teams winning the lottery can only advance 10 positions. Thus, only the 11 worst teams in the general classification can aspire to the first choice.
Montreal Canadiens – 18.5%
Arizona Coyotes – 13.5%
Squatting the Seattle – 11.5%
Philadelphia Flyers – 9.5%
New Jersey Devils – 8.5%
Blackhawks de Chicago – 7,5 %
Ottawa Senators – 6.5%
Red Wings de Detroit – 6,0 %
Buffalo Sabers – 5.0%
Ducks d’Anaheim – 3,5 %
Sharks de San Jose – 3,0 %
Blue Jackets de Columbus – 2,5 %
Islanders of New York – 2.0%
Winnipeg Jets – 1.5%
Vancouver Canucks – 0.5%
Golden Knights de Vegas – 0,5 %
Note that the Blackhawks and Golden Knights respectively traded their first-round picks to the Blue Jackets and Sabres. If they win the lottery, they will keep their choice and offer their 2023 selection as compensation.
The NHL Entry Draft will take place July 7-8 at the Bell Centre.
