ZTE Axon 40 Ultra: Manufacturer advertises next-gen stereo speakers

If the Chinese manufacturer is to be believed, the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra will be the ultimate flagship smartphone. While a 64-megapixel triple camera was already advertised, today it is the invisible front camera and the stereo speakers of the 2nd generation, where a breathtaking “Snapdragon” sound awaits us.

Information still under wraps

We have already discussed it, ZTE will present the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra on Monday, May 9th at 2:00 p.m. (Asia time). We have already been provided with preliminary information and images for which we did not have to sign non-disclosure agreements. After past post, where we had also used the image as a cover photo, we received a call from China in the GO2mobile editorial team shortly following publication. In a tearful voice, ZTE asked us to delete the image. Of course we complied with that, since we want to keep our test position.

Direct information also included technical data for which we were not asked to delete. So I assume that we can continue to report on the 6.8-inch AMOLED display of a “trend-setting” 16-megapixel under-display camera (UDC). The same applies to the resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels at 399 ppi (True Full Display) and a refresh rate of 120 Hertz.

That camera was now in public anyway Sina Weibo discussed once once more. We are now in the 3rd generation of UDC. In 2020, the manufacturer was already in the ZTE Axon 20 (to the unboxing video) pioneer, but the quality of the selfies was not yet suitable for everyday use. A year later in the ZTE Axon 30 (to test) it became visibly better, but still worse than the competition with their “normal” punch-hole cameras. Now, thanks to 2.24 micron pixels and the “Proactive Vision Algorithm” version 3.0, the time has come. Here is a test photo of the front camera.

It should be three 64 MP cameras

The manufacturer of the ZTE Axon also pointed out its extraordinary 64 megapixel triple camera. So just to understand: three 64-megapixel cameras! The primary camera is supported by a Sony IMX787 image sensor and the ultra wide-angle and periscope cameras are each supported by an OmniVision 64B image sensor. Allegedly with an optical image stabilization and a 5x lossless zoom.

The company drew special attention to the “Snapdragon Sound” of the second generation stereo speakers. According to their own statements, the acoustic DTS:X-Ultra experience is “shockingly thunderous”. DTS:X Ultra allows you to specify different tonal qualities for each sound, including location, movement, size, focus and more. We will see. Sounds primarily like a bang to me. I’m more into high fidelity. But as I said, the test sample is on its way to the GO2 editorial team. The release in China is only on May 9th. However, this will follow globally in a timely manner.
