The beautiful story of Bénédicte, “head of linotte” saved from a bicycle theft by her neighbor

This is a great story as social networks can bring us. This Tuesday, April 26, 2022, Bénédicte attaches her electric bike to the hoops below her home, in the Square Riga district. A pretty electric bike in which she has put “all her savings” a few months ago, when the young woman settled in the city of donkeys.

“Linnet head, I forgot to properly close my padlock”. The worst might have happened for the distracted cyclist. But that’s without counting on a kind and attentive neighbor cyclist. “He went through there and my bike was put in safety at the police station next to Schaerbeek station,” says Bénédicte.

“Sun of the Week”

The very next day, warned by a message from the police station taped to the hoop, she went to retrieve her “indispensable” means of getting around in her “life at 100 an hour”. Already, it’s not trivial.

The story might have ended there. But the two cycling neighbors continued to communicate through the parking bar. It was first Bénédicte who wrote to “sun of the week” as she says on the Facebook group La Schaerbeekoise: “To the person who reported to the police that my bike was not safe, thank you very much. Without you, I would never have found my bike. I was very lucky to run into someone like you”.

The modest savior takes over the next day: “I am a cyclist and a neighbor on François Riga square. When I saw your bike not attached, I was shocked because I had already been stolen two .I felt a deep urge to help you.I stayed there until the police arrived. While going to work,I found your message and the sweets. It changed my day and put a big smile on my face. to those to whom I have told this story”.

History has given us a big smile too.
