They guarantee vacancies for fifty students who are about to graduate in Medicine

Directors of the Higher School of Medicine They guaranteed vacancies in public health centers in Mar del Plata so that the students who are regarding to graduate can carry out their obligatory final internships in the city.

From the institution that depends on the National University of Mar del Plata (UNMdP) they estimated that regarding 50 students will be able to finish this last section of the course within General Pueyrredon. In total, it is estimated that there will be availability for approximately 180 vacancies, also taking into account the places offered by other towns in the region.

“Of the first 51 vacancies that we have already enabled, we have regarding 30 boys who signed the award in centers in Mar del Plata and the remaining 21 are located in other municipalities in the area. Everything was voluntary”, affirmed Adrián Alasino, director of the school, before the consultation of 0223.

Although he clarified that the final number of available places will be known once some details of each agreement are finalized, the referent of the university institution ratified that in the different public centers of Mar del Plata, internships can be distributed for fifty students.

“The agreements are there but not all of them are ready because the process is complex. Each vacancy must have a tutor. This consists of a supervised practice and if there is a vacancy but there is no supervision, then we do not consider it as a vacancy”, explained the doctor and teacher.

Alasino stressed that the existence of vacancies for the development of the compulsory final practice “was never a problem” for his school, contrary to the complaint that had been raised weeks ago from the Student Center. The representatives of the student organization had accused lack of quotas and denounced that the students were “forced” to leave the city.

“The agreements were worked on well in advance and all the signatures are there. There are quotas in hospitals in the city but not for all students and that is why they also worked in parallel with other neighboring municipalities, “said the professional regarding the management that has been carried out in recent months.

In addition, the director said that the policy of guaranteeing agreements with other municipalities not only responds to the large number of students but “because the University tries to be a contribution to the entire southeast of Buenos Aires.” “The race has a profile that supports prevention, that studies the environments and the community, and the idea is not that everything is centralized in Mar del Plata,” he said, and reiterated: “Obviously, everything is always guaranteed with the prior agreement of the students”.

The university official recalled that this year there will be 107 students in a position to carry out these internships that will allow them to finish their degree and become the first graduates of the school that opened its doors at the UNMdP in 2017.
