The 16th version of the March for Life advances peacefully through the streets of Medellín at this time, organized by the United for Life citizen participation platform, which opposes the decriminalization of abortion in Colombia.
The march, which according to its organizers takes place simultaneously in seven other cities in the country and which started in the capital of Antioquia from Ciudad del Río, seeks in this version to show its rejection of the recent ruling of the Constitutional Court that allows abortion until the 24th week of gestation.
During the peaceful demonstration that will end in the Parque de las Luces, the large group of congregants also asks that the four magistrates and the associate judge who have issued this sentence resign from their positions and that they also respond judicially for what Unidos por la Vida described as “abuse of power and judicial totalitarianism.”
Another of the objectives of the citizen demonstration is the convening of a “Pro-Life Referendum” for the Colombian people to decide on the issue of abortion.
