The two countries have stopped face-to-face talks for nearly a month since Russia moved the fighting to eastern Ukraine, and Ukraine warned yesterday (29) that peace talks with Russia were in danger of breaking down. In response, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made conditions that he hoped the West would lift sanctions on Russia and put it on the agenda of peace talks.
According to Al Jazeera, Lavrov gave an interview to the Chinese state-run Xinhua News Agency, revealing that Russia would include the “lifting of sanctions” on the agenda of the peace talks.
In addition, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also pointed out to Polish reporters that he was pessimistic regarding the prospect of continuing peace talks with Russia, and the people were angry at the brutality of the Russian army. When this attitude prevails, it becomes difficult to conduct various negotiations.
