Tom Henderson: Skull & Bones gameplay is a complete disaster

This week on the web leaked gameplay Skull & Bones – new pirate game from Ubisoft, which has been in production hell for the past few years. Video commented by a well-known blogger Tom Hendersonwho in September 2021 already shared information regarding the development of the game.

He pointed out that his insiders began to be confirmed. In particular, we are talking regarding problems with the combat system. Skull & Bones has no land battles at all – only naval battles.

Initially, it was assumed that Ubisoft simply did not have time to complete and add this mechanic. However, comments from closed beta members and a leaked video prove that Skull & Bones will not feature ground combat. Moreover, even fights within the framework of boarding the opponent’s schooner are excluded.

The collection of resources occurs off the coast at the touch of a button, when the player is on board his ship. As for the assault on forts, it is necessary to weaken the enemy defenses with ship cannons, and then order the team to start an automatic raid. The player character can still leave the ship, but the Skull & Bones foot component is limited to communicating with in-game characters and merchants.

In total, there are five types of ships available in the game, but players will start their journey from the smallest. At the same time, you can choose a specialization for your schooner (combat, cargo, research).

During battles, it is necessary to monitor the morale of the crew, which can be raised with food and drinks. If morale drops to a critical level, the sailors will riot and destroy the ship.

Skull & Bones players will be able to fight each other, as well as the ships of the in-game characters. As part of the global events on the map, Ubisoft will allow you to attack large merchant ships, as well as mythical creatures.

Henderson does not understand what the target audience of the project is, because the emphasis is only on the destruction of enemy ships and looting. The lack of land battles has already caused dissatisfaction among the players – especially once morest the backdrop of Sea of Thieves. Therefore, the blogger considers the gameplay demonstration a complete disaster.
