Gaming on the Mac: Nvidia optimizes GeForce Now for M1 Macs +++ “Disney Dreamlight Valley” announced | news

Nvidia GeForce Now gets M1 support
Nvidia has made its in-house cloud gaming service GeForce Now fit for Macs with an Apple silicon chip. From the new version 2.0.40, the associated app runs natively on Apple computers with M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max and M1 Ultra. Previously, the Nvidia software only worked on the corresponding Macs with the help of the Rosetta 2 emulation tool, which was associated with a number of disadvantages, such as the application’s comparatively long start-up times.

Nvidia goes in the associated Blogpost on the improvements brought by native M1 support. According to the graphics card provider, the new version of GeForce Now significantly reduces the app’s energy requirements, which is particularly beneficial for mobile Macs and their battery life. Users also benefit from faster application startup times and generally better performance when running. The user experience is significantly increased on M1 Macs such as MacBooks, iMacs and Mac mini, according to the manufacturer. However, the native M1 support has less of an impact on the actual gaming performance of the titles available via GeForce Now than in the other areas of the software, since the available games are run in Nvidia data centers and transmitted to the respective Mac via a cloud connection.

Other new features in GeForce Now 2.0.40 include another way to find matching games faster. To do this, Nvidia has placed a “Genre” bar below the “Games” menu, which customers can use to search for the titles of their choice.

“Disney Dreamlight Valley” also intended for Pixar fans
Speaking of gaming on the Mac: software company Gameloft has announced an ambitious game that will not only be released for PC and consoles, but also for Apple computers. We’re talking regarding “Disney Dreamlight Valley”. In the mix of role-playing game and life simulation, players will meet many characters, locations and other things from Disney and Pixar films, including “Beauty and the Beast”, “Cinderella”, “Monsters, Inc.”, “The Lion King”, “WALL-E”, “Toy Story” and many more. Series like DuckTales are also represented. The character can be designed according to the individual wishes of the user.

Disney Dreamlight Valley will be released exclusively for Xbox in the summer of 2022 as an “Early Access” title. The final version for Mac, PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox will be released in 2023, although an exact date has not yet been set.
