three preventive measures reduce the risk of cancer in seniors

Combining a diet of high-dose vitamin D3 and Omega 3 fatty acids with simple muscle training at home can limit the risk of cancer in seniors. A new study from Zurich reveals it.

Each of the three components of the “recipe” alone already has a positive impact in the prevention of cancer in people over 70 years of age. Combining them makes it possible to increase the desired effect significantly: the triple measure reduces the risk of cancer by 61%, indicates Friday the University of Zurich which carried out this study.

Vitamin D hinders the growth of cancer cells. The Omega 3 fatty acid slows the mutation of normal cells into cancerous cells. Physical exercise improves immune function and reduces inflammation, which can also help prevent cancer.

Three safe and inexpensive measures

These three measures might, together, reduce a significant proportion of cancers in older adults, because they are very safe and inexpensive, believes Heike Bischoff-Ferrari, professor and researcher in geriatrics at the University of Zurich, quoted in the press release.

Further studies are needed to further verify the potential of combined preventive treatment and to take into account extended observation periods.
