Villach awards the Bruno Gironcoli Prize to young talents in 5 minutes

The Bruno Gironcoli Promotional Prize is intended to be a motivation and an incentive – but it is primarily an appreciation and appreciation for young artists from Villach. The culture award is being presented for the sixth time this year. After the award ceremony, which was moved to the Internet last year due to the corona situation, there will be another official celebration tonight in the Bambergsaal.

Art needs the audience

“Art needs the audience and dialogue with the viewers. Young artists in particular, who have already created something extraordinary, should find a stage with us in Villach,” says Cultural Advisor Deputy Mayor Gerda Sandriesser. Six years ago, art patron Wolfgang Gabriel created this prize together with the city in order to do exactly that: to bring young, local art talents in front of the curtain and to honor their work. “The genre doesn’t matter. In Villach we have artists in almost every field, all of whom do excellent work,” says Sandriesser. In addition, the people of Villach are always included in the prize: They can nominate the talents and also significantly increase the prize money of 5,000 euros with their donations.

Tonight at 6 p.m. the following prizewinners will be honored and awarded in the Bambergsaal in Villach:

  • Julia Presslauer – freelance illustrator and designer
  • Robert Unterköfler – saxophonist and jazz musician
  • Matthias Fattinger – Artist with a talent for wooden sculptures
  • Philipp Doboczky – musician and painter
