Focus on the Tunisian market

The number of weekly flights to Tunisia will be increased to five by next month, and even more. It all depends on the demands of the national market

From the beautiful shores of Gammarth, in the northern suburbs of Tunis, Jordan was kind enough to make its promotional campaign, as a very popular tourist destination. Around an Iftar dinner, with a local Ramadan menu, the Jordanian tourist animation committee chose Tunisia, one of the most beautiful recognized seaside resorts in the world, in order to talk regarding its country and present, in sound and images , its picturesque assets. And now it’s starting to catch the eye and generate, in return, a sharing of ideas on the marketing and diplomatic contribution to the promotion of Jordanian tourism, the keystone of the country’s economy.

Invited to the ceremony were the Director General of the Tunisian National Tourist Office (ONTT), tour operators, travel agencies, businessmen, culture and the media. For the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, H.E. Maher Tarwana, it was also an opportunity that reflects the solidity of Tunisian-Jordanian cooperation relations established in several sectors of activity, particularly tourism and handicrafts. He had, thereby, highlighted the civilizational, cultural and religious potential available to his country, with a history that is two thousand years old. Which earned it to be, like Tunisia, a tourist destination of choice. For 40 years, Jordan has been looking at its future. It has continued to work to diversify its offerings and products. In 2010, the country had eight million Arab and European visitors.

What regarding Jordan? This country at the crossroads of history for more than two thousand years is full of countless world heritage treasures and is located in the heart of exceptional desert landscapes. Petra, the ancient Nabataean city, has never ceased to draw crowds, remaining the tourist jewel of a country rich in wonders. Wadi Rum, with its brown sandstone cliffs and brightly colored dunes, did not fail to dazzle Lawrence of Arabia. This adventurer was also impressed by the stoicism of the Bedouins, hardened to the trials of life in the desert. Especially since the well-preserved Jordanian shores hide immaculate reefs, wrecks and multicolored coral gardens. However, it is also described, the centerpiece remains Jerash, with its imposing theaters and colonnades.

Why are we doing such a promotion in Tunisia? Khaled Kilani, head of the Jordanian tourist animation committee, highlighted the easy access and customs privileges for Tunisian visitors. “The latter does not need a visa to discover Jordan, motivated in this by tour operators working on our site”, he underlines, adding that his country is proud of the Dead Sea, the Gulf of Aqaba and the ancient city of Petra, qualified as one of the seven wonders of the world. This progress made by Jordanian tourism is due, in part, to the efforts made by travel agencies and their role in promoting this destination, adds Ahmed Akkour, of the Jordanian company.

And to add, for this purpose, that the number of weekly flights to Tunisia will be increased to five by next month, and even more. It all depends on the demands of the national market. Added to this is a five-year promotion strategy, the aim being to double and modernize the company’s fleet. Moreover, Tunisians who had visited Jordan came to provide edifying testimonies: a site with quality tourist services.
