Test Purchasing said in a statement that prices rose an average of 5.9% year-on-year.
“A couple who spent an average of 390 euros per month in the supermarket last year will now spend 413 euros on the same shopping trolley. In the context of soaring energy prices, this is another blow to the wallets of many households”, testifies Julie Frère, spokesperson for the consumer protection organization.
To arrive at such results, Test Achat analyzed 3,000 products from Albert Heijn, Carrefour, Colruyt, Cora, Delhaize, Aldi and Lidl supermarkets.
And the observation is clear: the price of certain products has soared.
For example, Test Achats reveals that tomatoes climbed by 31.5%, pasta by 30.5% and frying oil by 26.2. Paper tissues, kitchen paper rolls and toilet paper took 20%. Ground coffee (+18.6%), mayonnaise (+12.2%), olive oil (+11.1%) and mustard (+10.5%) are also on the increase. Dairy products too (7%). On average, vegetables increased by 8.3% while this is less felt on fruit (+1.9%).
