Former President Park Geun-hye is expected to attend the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol, which will be held on the 10th of next month. The Presidential Inauguration Preparatory Committee announced on the 27th that former President Park would attend.
Chairman Park Joo-seon, chairman of the inauguration preparations, said at the press conference of the Presidential Takeover Committee in Toongui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on the followingnoon of the same day, “Yesterday (26th), I visited the residence of former President Park in Dalseong-gun, Daegu and delivered a personal message of President-elect Yoon and an invitation to the inauguration ceremony.” They welcomed me very warmly, and we had a 20-minute meeting with lawyer Yoo Young-ha.”
Former President Park said, “I am grateful that the chairman came a long way and that the elected president expressed his intention to invite by hand.” Then, former President Park said, “It is burdensome to travel for more than three hours in my current health condition, but I will do my best to endure it through exercise and rehabilitation.”
It is reported that the meeting took place when former President Park requested a visit from Chairman Park first. On the 12th, the inauguration preparation committee explained that President-elect Yoon visited former President Park and asked to attend the inauguration ceremony in person. The inauguration preparation committee plans to send out invitations to the inauguration ceremony to other former presidents’ spouses and bereaved families.
The government vision of the Yun Seok-yeol government was confirmed as ‘a re-emerging Republic of Korea, a nation of people living well together’. Choi Jong-hak, a transition committee member of the Planning and Coordination Division of the transition committee, held a briefing on the same day and said, “‘Korea taking off once more’ reflects the vocation of the times, and ‘a nation of people living well together’ reflects the needs of the people.” The principles of state management were set as △national interest, △practical use, △fairness, and △common sense.
