Al-Marsad newspaper: The Food and Drug Authority commented on the possibility of the Indomie product in the Saudi market containing pesticides contaminated with pesticides, following the product was withdrawn from Egypt.
The authority explained: “All imported and local food products are subject to the requirements of the authority, and the authority also monitors all imported food products before and during their arrival in the Kingdom, to ensure their safety and the approved standard specifications.”
Not suitable for human consumption
It is worth noting that the National Food Safety Authority in Egypt decided to give the company that produces the instant barley product “Indomie” 48 hours to withdraw its products from the market.
The authority took samples from the market to analyze the product and determine its safety. After receiving the results of the analyzes, it was found that the quick-prepared noodles were valid for human consumption and that the hot pepper product and the chicken and vegetable flavors were not suitable for human consumption due to the presence of a percentage of aflatoxins and pesticide residues that exceed the safe limits allowed for human consumption.
Greetings, All imported and local food products are subject to the requirements of the authority. The authority also monitors all imported food products before and during their arrival in the Kingdom, to ensure their safety and the approved standard specifications.
