Amy Hennig, who created Uncharted, announces that she is developing a new Star Wars game.
Since EA lost exclusive rights to the franchise Star Wars for video game adaptations, projects follow one another in many studios, and a new kid has just appeared. It is Amy Hennig who announces it alongside Lucasfilm Games, and who teases us with a “highly cinematized action-adventure game“. In other words, this means that the game should depict a strong visual universe and contain an almost “cinematic” plot.
A mysterious game
For the moment, very few details are known regarding the content of the game or its release date, so we can imagine that it is still in an early phase of development and that it will only see the light of day in a few years. The developer, who is also behind the Uncharted franchise, says:
“I’ve often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, indelibly shaping my creative life and my future. I’m thrilled to be working with Lucasfilm Games once more to tell interactive stories in this galaxy I love..”
A major collaboration, but not unprecedented
This is indeed not the first collaboration between Amy Hennig and the firm of George Lucas since she had previously worked on the now aborted project called Ragtag. This was also a Star Wars game, developed by EA for almost 3 years, before the studio in charge of development was closed down for good. This had the consequence of simply stopping the ongoing activities of the studio, including this famous Ragtag project.
She is now taking her revenge with this new idea, developed this time by her Skydance New Media studio. On the side of Lucasfilm Games, Douglas Reilly declares to be excited at the idea of this promising collaboration: “Their vision of creating engaging and cinematic interactive entertainment makes this collaboration very exciting..”
Otherwise, apart from this news, we are also waiting three new Star Wars games from EAincluding the sequel to Star Wars Jedi : Fallen Order, but also Star Wars Eclipsedeveloped by Quantic Dream and which does not yet have a release date, but an already very promising trailer.
