According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on the 26th, the average number of 112 reports per day for six months before the lifting of the distancing measures was 9,845, but following the lifting, the number of 112 reports increased by 1,501 to 11,346.

The number of calls to dispatch increased by 24.2% from 5,904 to 7,333, and the number of non-arrival reports increased by 1.8% from 3,941 to 4,13 cases.

The police also explained that “the overall number of reports increased over the entire time period due to the increase in activity following the lifting of social distancing.”

Reports of significant crimes increased from 310 to 387 cases per day, on average, 24.8% for the six months before the release, 23.2% from 1,553 cases to 1,913 cases for other crimes, and 30.9% for order maintenance reports, from 1,755 cases to 2,298 cases. Traffic reports rose 16.1% from 816 to 948.

In particular, the number of drinking-related reports increased as the number of drinking parties and gatherings increased. Protection measures increased the most from 532 cases to 783 cases during the same period.

On the other hand, reports of child abuse, sexual assault, and dating violence increased among the reports of crimes once morest the socially disadvantaged, but reports of domestic violence and stalking remained similar before and following the release.
