Businessmen from Cali applaud Federico Gutiérrez

This Monday, the candidate Federico Gutiérrez starred in a media visit to Cali, which had an agenda full of key activities to consolidate support for the first presidential round. One of the most striking moments was when the business community of the capital of Valle del Cauca received the candidate amid applause.

There were more than 600 Cali businessmen who gathered to receive the right-wing candidate. Everyone waited for him standing up and, when he arrived, several took the opportunity to take photos with Gutiérrez while the others applauded.

At the event, the candidate shared his proposals and ratified his commitment to the sector. He emphasized education, tertiary pathways, economic growth and development of the Colombian countryside. According to the attendees, at various times the event was interrupted by the voices of businessmen who predicted the victory of the former mayor of Medellín.

Among the themes, He highlighted the proposal to take a million students from strata 1 to 4 to the public university with free quotas. Faced with this, Gutiérrez asked for support from the business community in this initiative of his eventual presidency.

“We have entrepreneurship, cultural, sports and technological projects; we need someone to give us a hand, to sponsor these young people, you know how to be efficient, you have the experience, and the State is going to accompany you, we are going to do it together”, the candidate told the public.

In addition, he stressed the need for competitiveness, productivity and sustainable economic growth to guarantee the application of social programs in the country.

“We have to take care of the economy, the average long-term growth rate in the last 20 years has been above 3.6% and in order for us to move forward, we have to grow at least above 5% in the next four years. “, Held.

For the regions, Gutiérrez assured that what is needed are tertiary roads to connect the Colombian countryside. “So that the peasants of the country can get their products, they have access to soft loans from micro, small and large producers, helping them to eliminate intermediation barriers so that they also have the utility. All this accompanied by the irrigation districts”.

The investment in this sense will go from one billion pesos a year to three billion a year.

In addition, the candidate touched on an important and controversial issue within his program: money imprisoned in royalty funds. “14 billion pesos, almost what was approved in the last tax reform. That is why we must decentralize and bring the possibilities to the regions so that the projects can move forward”.

The day did not finish with the industralists. In Yumbo, half an hour from Cali, the candidate gathered more than 6,000 people at the Valle del Pacífico event center. At 6:30 p.m., another crowd was waiting to cheer him on his arrival at the venue.

In the place, banners of the La U party might be seen thanks to the alliance of the Team for Colombia with Dilian Francisca Toro, director of the community and one of the key figures of the campaign.

The candidate shared the proposals with the public and continued to publicize the values that he promises to bring to the Presidency of the Republic. The tour of the country is expected to continue in the coming days. For Wednesday, Gutiérrez is preparing for a key meeting with the business sector of Barranquilla. In that city he goes hand in hand with Alejandro Char, another Team for Colombia ally.

While Petro’s lead in the polls solidifies, Gutiérrez continues to seek to close the lead to prevent his opponent from winning in the first round at all costs.
