Images of the Sony WH-1000XM5 have been posted on the web. If you are interested in bluetooth headsets, you may not be able to read this article fast enough. Indeed, Sony’s earphones are considered the best models on the market for wireless ANC headphones. It is therefore interesting to see that Sony finally dares a new design.
- New design with more curves and an autonomy of 40 hours
- Release date of the new headphones so far not clear yet
It was precisely a German colleague who came across the first images of the Sony WH-1000XM5 on the net. As a reminder, Sony combines in its high-end models the Active-Noise-Cancelling, industry leader, high quality sound and the latest technologies such as 3D audio or intelligent detection of head movements. The WH-1000XM series is thus one of the most important Bluetooth headsets on the market. Click here to access our test du Sony WH-1000XM4.
For the fifth generation, Sony finally seems to deviate from the design known from previous models. As you can see from the photos, that means a more rounded design, which reminds me a bit of Apple’s AirPods Max. As is Sony tradition, the white, black and gold color combinations are elegant, even verbose.
Rumors regarding some technical improvements
Nils Ahrensmeier further disclosed on TechnikNews some technical data that seems promising to say the least. A first strong point is the autonomy, which the manufacturer will probably improve by 25% by activating the ANC, going from 40 hours to 50 hours. Despite longer battery life, charging time should only be 30 minutes longer – a hint for faster vria USB-C charging.
Also, a new driver should be used, but is not specified further at this time. Sony’s already good ANC might be further improved by using two processors – Sony may even debut the successor to the current QN1 ANC chip – and thanks to Bluetooth 5.2 and six microphones, the headphones seem be a good overall package.
It is not yet known when the headphones will be released and what their price will be. According to Techniknewsthe quoted source from the retail world, however, predicts an imminent release.
