Betis took the lead in the 11th minute with a Borja Iglesias goal, but Valencia equalized in the 30th minute with a Hugo Douro goal.
Both teams were unable to score in the second and overtime periods, so Betis won in the penalty shootout.
This is Betis’ third title in the Spanish Cup, while Valencia was unable to win his ninth title in the tournament.
Betis qualified for the final by defeating Rayo Vallecano 3-2 in the two semi-finals, while Valencia beat Athletic Bilbao 2-1.
Betis is having a special season, as he is also competing in the league to qualify for the Champions League next season, with his tally of 57 points, compared to 61 points for Atlético Madrid, fourth.
