Diseases that previously seemed distant and unlikely to most, are getting younger and younger every year, affecting people who are not even 40 years old. Thus, more and more young men and women suffer from heart attacks and strokes, as well as from neurodegenerative diseases. For example, Alzheimer’s disease began to be diagnosed even in thirty-three-year-olds, and this is a serious problem, doctors say.
When a person is just beginning to develop dementia, his usual behavior does not betray the disease. Only the most attentive can suspect her. However, then it will turn into a tragedy both for the sick person and for his family members. The victim will no longer be able to take care of himself on his own, he does not control his thoughts, actions, and can even harm others. He, like a small child, is very dangerous to leave alone.
Atypical sign
Scientists and doctors from different countries have been carefully studying the lifestyle, habits, chronic diseases of people with dementia for many years. The main goal of the researchers is to identify as many early warning signs and triggers as possible in order to learn how to prevent the disease. So, in one of the studies, which is published in the scientific journal JAMA Neurology, scientists say: craving for sweets can give out a dangerous disease, writes UK edition of Express. Or rather, a sudden strong craving for chocolate, cakes and pastries.
“Most people with frontotemporal dementia begin to experience their first symptoms between the ages of 45 and 65. In the years before they were diagnosed, they showed strong cravings for fast carbohydrates, ”comments the director of Boston University, Dr. Andrew Budson.
Another feature that was added or was independent – it is the desire to make repetitive movements. For example, turning the light on and off every time you pass a light switch.
