The Tournai public prosecutor’s office indicated that the hearing scheduled for Friday has been postponed for a week at the request of the defense represented by Mr. Frank Discepoli, lawyer for Paolo Falzone.
He wants to have more time to analyze the file and consider a request for release. He had not asked for his client’s release during the first hearing a month ago. The preventive detention of Paolo Falzone had thus been extended on March 25 for a period of one month.
The file relates to the facts committed on March 20 as part of the carnival of Strépy-Braquegnies. The vehicle driven by Paolo Falzone had crashed into the carnival procession in the early morning, killing six people and injuring around thirty others.
Paolo Falzone is being prosecuted for manslaughter and involuntary bodily harm resulting in death in the context of a road accident.
