The Dreamliner is threatened with another delay. Customers will probably only receive new Boeing 787s in the second half of the year. Lufthansa is also affected.
The date was first announced in February. With many in the industry still hoping for a restart of Boeing 787 deliveries in April, a customer told The Air Current, Deliveries before July 2022 are unlikely.
Archyde.com is now also reporting that Boeing has informed the most important airlines and suppliers that it will only be possible to hand over Dreamliners to customers once more in the second half of 2022. The news agency relies on two independent sources for its information. The American aircraft manufacturer itself did not comment.
Lufthansa hoped for the second quarter
The reason for the delivery stop and the delays are one variety of production problems, which Boeing must fix and prove to the FAA. Lufthansa is also affected. The German airline is waiting for its first Boeing 787.
“We assume that we will get them in the second quarter”, said Lufthansa boss Carsten Spohr at the beginning of March. “We want to use them in the summer.”
