“Our police are ready to intervene if there were to be traffic issues on our territory. […] and if there were to be excesses linked to this gathering, ”confirms the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
This new convoy of demonstrators is mainly organized by two Ontario organizations that fight for “freedom”, namely the Freedom fighters Canada and The Unifiers. Dozens of them will drive from Ottawa to Montreal to oppose a range of measures.
“Yes, indeed, we are aware of this convoy which should take place this weekend. […] It is clear that our duty is to monitor the road network so it will also be our mandate, ”explains Sergeant Ann Mathieu of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The main organizer of this convoy, a young father from Saint-Eustache who claims to be called “Yan”, declined our requests for an interview over the phone.
“We denounce the abusive measures of the government, the health emergency that never ends … Law 15 which has just been adopted and which gives far too many powers to the government”, explains by messages “Yan”, who stubbornly refuses to reveal his full name.
On the other hand, the resident of Saint-Eustache does not hesitate to film himself in his car to promote his event which will take place on Saturday at 1 p.m. “Share my event. It has to be big. You have no reason not to come. I want to see you,” he insists in a video shared this week.
According to our information, the Freedom Fighters and The Unifiers mainly come to La Fontaine Park to oppose Bill 15 passed unanimously last week in the National Assembly.
It should be noted that under this law on youth protection, the interest of the child must always take precedence over any other consideration, even that of his parents. This was created, among other things, to avoid another tragedy like that of the little girl from Granby that occurred in 2019.
In addition, the organizer of the demonstration did not want to explain his motivations for opposing Law 15.

At the time, the man even took pictures with the controversial Pat King, the most talkative organizer of the siege in the federal capital who is now behind bars.
He also photographed himself with Tamara Lich, another convoy organizer in Ottawa. Remember that she was first arrested, then released on $25,000 bail and under several conditions, including a ban on speaking out on social media.
