Do not remove the Iranian Revolutionary Guard from the terrorist list

In a letter to US President Joe Biden, 900 American citizens who have been subjected to attacks by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards or its affiliated groups, or their families, called for keeping the Revolutionary Guards on the list of terrorist organizations.

And the newspaper “Washington Post”, today, Thursday, April 21 (April), that this letter was sent to the White House last week. She wrote that the signatories to this letter are right because, in their view, the Revolutionary Guards have a clear record of supporting terrorism and continue to pose a terrorist threat, including once morest former US officials.

About 900 people signed the letter to Joe Biden, including: American veterans injured in various conflicts, family members of those soldiers, and “Gold Star” families, meaning families who lost loved ones in the Iraq war.

“In our view, removing the Revolutionary Guards from the State Department’s list of terrorist organizations threatens American lives, harms veterans and Gold Star families, and enables a terrorist organization to continue to support and carry out attacks once morest the interests of the United States and its allies in the Middle East,” the letter read.

The letter’s authors emphasized that the Revolutionary Guards fully fit the definition of a “foreign terrorist organization” and took no action to assess it positively.

One of the signatories to the letter told the Washington Post that he was not sure the Biden administration was taking their concerns into account, as the current US administration did not respond to an earlier letter sent in January addressing the issue of frozen Iranian funds.

The letter to Biden also read: “We urge you, regardless of Iran’s demands, not to insult the memory of the many Americans who fell to the Revolutionary Guards, including those killed in other lands, while serving their homeland.

It is noteworthy that the Vienna talks to revive the nuclear agreement have been suspended since last March 11, and analysts and media reported that the main dispute between the United States and Iran is related to keeping the Revolutionary Guards or removing it from the list of terrorist organizations.
