Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her 96th birthday, Thursday, at Sandringham Palace.

Britain’s longest-reigning monarch flew by helicopter to the palace in Norfolk, where family and friends will follow.

She is expected to stay in a cottage within the palace annex, a place that her late husband, Prince Philip, loved.

On the occasion of her birthday, a picture of the Queen with two ponies was published FELL Reflects her permanent fondness for horses. The pictures were taken at Windsor Castle, where the Queen spends most of her time.
