According to the Valais canton police, there was a fatal accident on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in a meadow near Monthey. At the time, a 50-year-old Azerbaijani man from Lower Valais was busy cutting a branch from a tree trunk, the tree being partly on the forks of a forklift.
The tree trunk started to move and one of the branches hit the worker. Despite the rapid intervention of the rescue services and initiated resuscitation, the man died at the scene of the accident. The public prosecutor’s office, in cooperation with the cantonal police, has launched an investigation. (man)
