Among Us, the multiplayer game that has proven itself during confinement, is taking advantage of the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase 2022 to take it to the next level: virtual reality.
Among Us VR has a release window
During the confinement, you have all spent many hours on Among Us, a game like no other that redefines the rules of the Werewolf of Thiercelieux by offering ten players to dive into an arena. Unfortunately, among them lurks a cold-blooded killer. In a few months, the title will go to the next step. After landing on numerous platforms including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and integrating Game Pass, the game exports to VR.
Indeed, teased a few months ago, the project Among Us VR returns today to the front of the stage during Meta Quest Gaming Showcase 2022 to reveal its ambitions as well as its release window: good news, InnerSloth’s game will arrive for the holiday season on the Meta Quest 2, but also on the Oculus Store and the PlayStation Store.
New dimension rhymes with new approach
Of course, to successfully transpose the two-dimensional universe of Among Us to a first-person VR game, InnerSloth had to revise its copy. For the occasion therefore, as you can see by watching the new trailer available above, the title offers a whole new artistic direction thanks to the adoption of the cel-shading style which suits this wacky universe so well.
That’s not all, the arrival of VR in Among Us also brings a new approach to this title which has punctuated our evenings for days. Now, thanks to the implementation of an immersive view, an FPS view, the level-design of the various settings has been completely redesigned, which adds new mechanics that are particularly welcome. It is for example possible to take a look through a window to catch the killer red-handed, and this, without him being able to realize it. A novelty that will give a second wind to this game released for the first time in 2018.
As a reminder, Among Us VR and Among Us are two separate games. This means that players playing on the 2D version will not be able to play a game with those with the virtual reality version.
