Kozhikode: The party is likely to take disciplinary action once morest former MLA and CPM district secretariat member George M. Thomas for making controversial ‘love jihad’ in connection with the DYFI leader’s love marriage in Kodancherry. The district secretariat meeting to be convened today on the recommendation of the CPM state committee will decide whether to take action. The decision will be reported at the next district committee meeting. He said party documents show that love jihad is being used to attract educated young women in professional colleges.

Although the district leadership later intervened and rectified the situation, the leadership assessment was that George M. Thomas’ response had weakened the party. Opposition parties have taken up arms once morest the CPM for its opposition to the party’s stand that there is no love jihad in Kerala. Accordingly, the District Secretariat and the District Committee will meet today. State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had said in Thiruvananthapuram yesterday that the stand of George M. Thomas was once morest the party and that the Kozhikode district committee would take further action in this regard.
