Kenyans Evans Chebet and Peres Jepchirchir win the Boston Marathon

Canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, postponed to October in 2021 for the same reasons, the Boston Marathon found its traditional date on the calendar on Monday, Patriots’ Day, a public holiday on the third Monday in April in the States of Massachusetts, Wisconsin and Maine.

For its 126th edition, the oldest annual marathon in the world was treated to sunshine and perfect temperatures to cover 42.195 km. On the men’s side, victory went to Kenyan Evans Chebet (33) in 2h06’51”, nicely acclaimed on the famous Boylston Street finish line.

Starting solo shortly before the 35th kilometer, Chebet signed his first victory in one of the six major marathons (Berlin, Boston, Chicago, London, New York, Tokyo). The winner of the Valencia Marathon in 2020 in 2h03’00”, making him the seventh best performer in history, beat his compatriots Lawrence Cherono (+0”20) and Benson Kipruto (+0”36) ).

The Olympic champion holds her rank
