While speculation is still rife regarding the creation of a Battle Royale mode in Halo Infinitea screenshot appeared on the web allows us to learn more regarding this supposed mode developed by Certain Affinity.
Halo Infinite’s battle royale mode reportedly aims to compete with Fortnite and Warzone
Towards a mix of Battle Royale and PVE?
Just for once, the InfiniteLeaks Twitter account leaked the image that you can see below. We thus become aware of many parameters of the famous “Tatanka” mode which converge towards what can indeed make us think of a Battle Royale.

We can see in this list many mechanics specific to the genre:
- The ability to respawn in capsules.
- The existence of a containment zone.
- A notion of loot.
- The possibility of bleeding (probably when a Spartan is down).
- The possibility of resuscitation.
- The use of a resuscitation area.
From these few elements, one might easily be tempted to think of a simple Battle Royale, but that’s without counting on options that suggest the existence of Operations.
There are no less than 4 types here: “Capture”, “Supply Run”, “Destroy” and “Hoard”. It’s hard to imagine what they might consist of, but it’s a safe bet that players will be rewarded by completing them.
All this information is of course to be taken with a grain of salt as long as it has not been made official. A second tweet suggests, however, that this Battle Royale would have already entered the testing phase.
Why Tatanka?
This code name is inevitably intriguing for good reason, but where can it come from? This choice might be a direct reference to the famous wrestler Tatanka who mainly performed in WWE in the 80s/90s.
Indeed, a member of Reddit recalls that the wrestler had won a Battle Royal of 40 Superstars on May 18, 1992, during the “Bashed in the USA” event. Maybe we should see here a clue to the number of players on the map?
While waiting to know exactly what is going on, we remind you that season 2 of Halo Infinite will start on May 3 next. Multiplayer is available for free on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, while the paid campaign is included in the Xbox Game Passle PC Game Pass and the Xbox Cloud Gaming.
