“We will find a solution”

Thomas Müller’s contract with FC Bayern expires in just under a year. Not only are those responsible at Bayern confident that the offensive player will sign a new working paper with the record champions, the DFB international has now also confirmed that the extension is within reach.

“I’m very, very confident that we can say something relatively quickly,” said Oliver Kahn yesterday, Sunday, when he was asked regarding the ongoing contract talks with Thomas Müller during the “SPORT1” one-two. The 52-year-old makes no secret of the fact that the negotiations are going very well and that an agreement is regarding to be reached. Müller also confirmed that it will not be long before the extension can be officially announced.

“We are in good discussions and in a good exchange”

A few hours following Kahn’s statements, Müller commented in the mixed zone of Bielefeld’s Schüco Arena as follows: “We are in good discussions and in a good exchange. Both sides want it and I think we will find a solution.”

One thing is clear: if the club and the players publicly position themselves in this way, the talks are regarding to end. According to reports, a new contract with a term until 2025 is in the pipeline. This would make Müller the first of the “big three”, alongside Manuel Neuer and Robert Lewandowski, to extend his contract on the Isar prematurely. Bayern are also confident regarding Neuer. With Lewandowski, on the other hand, it is completely open whether and how things will continue with the top scorer at FCB following the current season.
