New court opens in Dubai The new court is set to hear and resolve inheritance-related cases. This will speed up the process and judgment.
The decision was announced by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Deputy Ruler of Dubai, with the aim of making the legal system more efficient. The purpose of the court order is to save time for court proceedings, facilitate legal proceedings and help protect family ties.
The court will only consider cases related to inheritance worth more than five lakh dirhams. Arguments will begin within 30 days of the case being registered. The order also says that the verdict should be pronounced within a year. Judgments issued by the court will be final. However, the authorities said that they might file a petition and appeal once morest the verdict. This Court can hear labor, civil, commercial and property cases related to inheritance. The trial period of the case can be extended only under certain circumstances and with the approval of the Chief Justice. The Dubai Media Office said a panel of judges from the Sessions, Appeals and First Instance Courts would be set up to handle cases in the new court.
